Centers & Outreach Programs in HDFS

Extension serves to “extend” the research from the land-grant and other universities to the people of Colorado, the region, and the nation. Extension specialists on campus, in conjunction with statewide extension agents, identify the top priority, life-long educational needs of the citizens of Colorado. We bring these needs to the Department of Human Development and Family Studies where faculty and graduate students work to identify and/or create research-based, effective educational programs to address those top priority needs.

Faculty in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies work with Extension specialists, colleague faculty members, and graduate students on critical family life issues across the lifespan from conception to death. They collaborate to strengthen individuals, couples, and families throughout Colorado. Their research-based information and effective educational programs are geared toward parents, couples, individuals, farmers and ranchers with disabilities, caregivers, early childhood and school-age professionals, and others who want to do things differently to create a better future for themselves and their families.
