Clinical Supervisors
Center Director
The Director of the Center for Family and Couple Therapy is Dr. Shelley Haddock. Dr. Haddock is an Associate Professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, and is a licensed Marriage & Family Therapist and AAMFT approved supervisor. She received her PhD in Education and Human Resource Studies with an emphasis in Counselor Education, and her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from CSU.
Therapists
Therapy services are provided by graduate students of the CSU Marriage and Family Therapy Program.* Selected from a competitive national pool, each student-therapist possesses unique experiences and clinical competencies.

Faculty Clinical Supervisors
These faculty are licensed or license-eligible family therapists holding approved supervisor or supervisor-candidate status in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
Dr. Shelley Haddock is an Associate Professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program and Director of the Center for Family and Couple Therapy. She received her PhD in Education and Human Resource Studies with an emphasis in Counselor Education, and her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from CSU. Dr. Haddock’s research focuses on examining the effectiveness of Internal Family Systems Therapy in the treatment of depression among female university students, and on the integration of gender and diversity in the training and practice of therapy. Dr. Haddock’s primary passion is teaching; she received the 2005 Best Teacher Award from the CSU Alumni Association.
Dr. Ashley Harvey is an Adjunct Assistant Professor who received her doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University. Clinically, Dr. Harvey specializes in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples and families. Dr. Harvey also worked for several years as a grief counselor and educator. Her research focus is on gender roles in dual-earner couples.
Dr. Jenn Matheson is an Assistant Professor and has graduate training in the fields of sociology, human development, and family therapy. She received her Ph.D. in MFT from Virginia Tech. Her research focus is on substance abuse and treatment, especially with college populations. She specializes in qualitative and mixed methods. Her current research examines the effectiveness of the first campus drug court substance abuse treatment program at CSU, called Back on TRAC. Clinically, Dr. Matheson specializes in families with addictions and grief and loss issues, and she considers herself an integrative therapist. She has additional clinical training in substance abuse treatment for adolescents and their families, family play therapy, and Internal Family Systems.
Dr. Toni Schindler Zimmerman has been on the Colorado State University Human Development and Family Studies Department faculty and has been the director of the Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program since 1991. The program has been recognized by the board for outstanding work in the training of graduate students especially with respect to diversity training. Dr. Zimmerman's research is primarily in three areas; work and family balance, diversity training with youth (the FAIR curriculum), and analysis of relationship advise in the popular media. Dr. Zimmerman is an excellent teacher who has been recognized for her enthusiasm and rigor in her teaching especially with respect to diversity training. She recently was on the faculty with the University of Virginia study aboard program, Semester at Sea, where she taught courses on family, sexuality, and gender as they relate to countries such as South Africa, India, China, Vietnam, Japan, Brazil, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Mauritius.
