Practicum / Internship


Goals & Objectives

After completing a one semester internship in the Early Childhood Center, the C.S.U. intern will be able to demonstrate:

  • Knowledge level understanding of normal preschool development in the following domains: cognitive, communication & language, social/emotional, and sensorimotor.
  • Knowledge level understanding of both formal and informal preschool assessments.
  • Knowledge level understanding of DAP (Developmentally Appropriate Practices) as they relate to the preschool learner.
  • Application level understanding related to design, implementation, and evaluation of preschool learning activities.
  • Knowledge level understanding of the importance of the physical learning environment.
  • Application level skills related to child guidance strategies (behavior management techniques).
  • Application level skills related to team building and its importance in a professional setting.
  • Application level skills in developing a positive home/school communication link.
